Cruise and Spielberg: Even their reps aren't on the same page

Bert, if you're going to ever call someone on behalf of talent, make sure you get your facts straight.

First they say the statements were false; then they change the response to "no comment."

Details

Bert Fields: "We have received word that you are planning a report that Steven Spielberg was upset with Tom about Tom's speaking out about his views on children's use of drugs . . . and that now they are not speaking to each other."

The Bert Fields letter stated: "Each of these statements is absolutely and demonstrably false. Steven is not upset with Tom . . . Tom and Steven remain close friends and are looking forward to working together again. The idea that they are not speaking is not only false but absurd. Actually Steven is shooting a movie in Budapest and Tom is shooting one [in the States]."

. . .

Looks like we have three versions, which one do we trust?

Another source, a close friend of the director, said: "They will not be working together again and Steven will never call him his friend."

Levy: "I will get back to you on the other item after I talk to Steven."

. . .

Levy called back to "decline comment."

Levy and Fields, both of you have shown you're someone I can't rely on; you're off my list: I know who to watch out for and not work with: Both of you.

Thanks for making the screw-up public.

Marvin Levy and Bert Fields can eat shit! Neither of you are reliable at this point.

Will Cruise's popularity plummet further; and will Katie, sensing she doesn't want to go down with Tom, call off the wedding?
