Should profanity in music be regulated?

Should profanity in music be controlled, restricted, or prohibited? Music needs to be a medium for free expression.

Yet, there are also inappropriate uses of music. Just as there are loud sounds when it is appropriate to be quiet, so too are there inappropriate words and language at some times.

Should music language be forbidden? Absolutely not.

What should happen is the RIAA should have a more useful means to communicate the style, content, and appropriate audience.

What's your view?

  • Should profanity be regulated by government or private industry?

  • Or do we need better labeling?

  • Or do you have other thoughts and ideas on how the issue of music lanague should be approached?
