Ophelia Watch

Keep FEMA's big picture in mind: Per their organization's performance goals, they are supposed to be able to cover 4 natural disasters.



We're going to find out how much padding Katrina has sucked out of the FEMA "four disaster" assumptions. Based on the abysmal results in Louisiana, I'm sure well find that the DHS planning, coordination, and oversight is going to go in panic mode -- they haven't had enough time to hide the problems with Katrina, much less solve them.

Timeline of events

North Carolina declares state of Emergency, mandatory evacuation ordered.

Will the President do anything?

Will FEMA respond?

Will the first responders get the assistance they need?

Is the US Navy going to follow the hurricane closely?

Or will Canada show up and save the day for North Carolina?
